Life as AFL footballers began for draftees Billy Hartung, Dayle Garlett and James Sicily on Monday morning as the trio participated in their first training session as Hawthorn players.

Picked up in Thursday night's National Draft, the trio joined their first to fourth year teammates for the running and skills session at Box Hill City Oval.

Premiership player Isaac Smith also made his first appearance of the pre-season, joining fellow premiership player Paul Puopolo, Bradley Hill and Jarryd Roughead on the track.
