Hawthorn ventured to Highgate Recreation Reserve in Craigieburn to take on North Melbourne in its final practice match ahead of Round 1.

The venue in Melbourne's outer-North proved a happy hunting ground for the Hawks, who put in a commanding performance, defeating the Kangaroos by 81 points.

David Hale starred booting four goals, while Lance Franklin and Jack Gunston also proved dangerous booting three each.

It was an impressive final hit out for the Hawks, who had previously been winless in the opening three weeks of the pre-season.
