CYRIL Rioli is likely to miss Hawthorn’s Round 12 match against the Blues at Etihad Stadium.

The Hawthorn star hasn’t played since Round 5, when he injured his hamstring against the Kangaroos in the last quarter of the match at the MCG.

Rioli was hopeful of a return immediately following his team's Round 11 bye, but it now looks likely he won’t be available when the Hawks return to action against the Blues in two weeks.

Head of Coaching and Development, Chris Fagan revealed that while his rehabilitation is going well, it’s unlikely he’ll be available for selection immediately after Hawthorn’s bye this weekend.

“Cyril’s running program is going well, he’s five weeks post the injury now,” Fagan said.

“He was doing a running program yesterday with one of our fitness guys and moving quite well.

“I don’t think he’d be available for Carlton, but pretty soon after that would be our expectation based on all his scans and everything being ok.”

Speaking on HawksTV’s HawkTalk last week, Rioli said his rehabilitation is progressing and his return is on track.

“The hammy is coming along well, I’ve had a couple of scans to check up on it and all is going pretty well,” Rioli said.

“I’ve been doing some running sessions; we’re getting there slowly but on track for (a return) after the bye.”

If Rioli doesn't play against Carlton, he could make his return against West Coast at Etihad Stadium in Round 13.
