HAWTHORN will play Brisbane and North Melbourne in the lead-up to the 2014 AFL season as part of the revamped pre-season competition.
To accompany the release of the 2014 AFL Premiership Season fixture on Thursday, the AFL has revealed the new-look pre-season competition, the NAB Challenge.
Next year, the AFL has scheduled 18 games across 18 days, with each club to play two matches in that time to prepare for the 2014 season.
The AFL announced on Thursday that the Hawks will play its opening pre-season match against Brisbane at Etihad Stadium on Thursday 13 February before facing North Melbourne in Tasmania on Friday 21 February.
It means the Hawks will then have a month to prepare for the 2014 season opener against Brisbane at Aurora Stadium on 22 March.
Each pre-season game will be televised live on Fox Footy.
