Hawthorn has struck a deal with St Kilda that sees it gain an extra pick inside the top 60 of November's National Draft.

The Hawks have sent its Round One compensation pick, currently number 19 for the loss of Lance Franklin to St Kilda in exchange for selections 24 and 59.

It means the Hawks now have four selections inside the top 60.

Recruiting and List Manager, Graham Wright said the extra draft choice also gives the Club scope to explore other trade options before Friday's 2pm deadline.

"Our intention was to gain another pick inside 60 to improve our draft position," he said.

"The extra selection also gives us the opportunity to utilise it in other potential trade deals if necessary."

Hawthorn has five available spots on the senior list following the retirements of Brent Guerra, Michael Osborne and Max Bailey and the departures of Lance Franklin and Xavier Ellis via Free Agency.

That means the Hawks will have five selections in the National Draft - picks 24, 38, 56, 59 and 74.
