Hawthorn Football Club has pledged $10,000 to the Red Cross Tasmanian Bushfires 2013 Appeal to assist with the recovery effort throughout the state.
In announcing the donation, CEO Stuart Fox expressed his sympathy and support for those affected by the disaster.
“The Hawthorn Football Club family wishes to extend its deepest concerns for all those in Tasmania who have been affected by the devastating bushfires,” Fox said.
“Our hearts are particularly with those who are still in the process of locating family members and loved ones, and we hope for their safe return.”
“Many families across the state now face an enormous challenge to rebuild their lives and livelihoods, and we offer our support and encouragement in what is an extremely difficult time for the community.
“Our small contribution is the least we can do for a state and a community that continues to support our football Club.
“Hawthorn Football Club would also like to acknowledge the brave efforts of the firefighters, emergency service officers and volunteers across the state,” Fox said.
Hawthorn will hold its annual Community Camp in Tasmania in February and will work with the local community to assist with the recovery efforts in the affected regions.
