Hawthorn wingman Tom Scully says he and his teammates would be open to moving into an interstate hub if the club was asked to do so.

Due to the outbreak of COVID-19 in Victoria, guidelines implemented by Queensland health officials over the weekend will rule against Victorian clubs flying into the state, with the announcement set to have an impact on future fixturing. 

But Scully said he would have no issue moving interstate for a period if that is what the game required.

"I think, from a club point of view, we've said all along we'd be flexible and open to anything if it allows us to keep playing the game," Scully said on Tuesday. 

"Obviously, we've seen other clubs have had to make that small sacrifice to move interstate.

"If that's something that we have to do then we'd be more than happy to work with the AFL to do what we need to do to keep the game going." 

Scully's comments come after Richmond captain Trent Cotchin conceded there is a "genuine chance" he will have teammates who will opt not to go into an interstate hub should the Tigers be required to.

But the 29-year-old Hawk said he had faith in the way the club would manage this hypothetical situation. 

"Certainly, we've got a number of players with young families and partners.

"I think the club would be very accomodating to those players.

"I guess every player has different individual circumstances, but one thing the Hawthorn Football Club is really good at is looking after their people and their welfare.

"So, I've got no doubts that the club would individually work with every player to make sure they're comfortable first and foremost."
