Hawthorn’s developing youth is the centre of conversation amongst many supporters and a crucial focus of the Club for future success.

In 2007 the Hawks had the youngest list in the AFL. Carlton has now taken that mantle and expectations on Hawthorn’s developing list have grown with the team moving up to third youngest in 2008.

Possibly the most interesting and exciting group to watch in 2008 will include Beau Muston, Beau Dowler, Max Bailey, Xavier Ellis, Mitch Thorp, Garry Moss, Josh Kennedy, Jarryd Morton, Brent Renouf, Travis Tuck and Luke McEntee. These players have collectively played 23 games. Most players are yet to debut and Xavier Ellis has played the most with 13 games under his belt.

At the end of 2007 569 games of experience was lost with the departure of Club leaders Richard Vandenberg, Ben Dixon, and Joel Smith.

This year many younger players will have their chance to step up and prove themselves for concrete positions in the senior side.

Many players will pull on the brown and gold for the first time.

Which player do you think will make the biggest impression in 2008?

Which players will start round one?
