The Northern Hawks Netball club has become the first netball club to form an affiliation with Hawthorn Football Club.

Originally known as the Northern Saints, the Netball Club will be re-named and will now be referred to as the Northern Hawks Netball Club, with changes to their colours and uniform to the brown and gold.

John Pitt, President of the Northern Hawks Netball Club is pleased to announce the affiliation with Hawthorn Football Club for the next five years.

“We are confident that the partnership will be mutually rewarding for both parties and provide a clear pathway for young netballers in the Launceston region to pursue their dream of playing netball at the highest level.”

“We are very excited about the opportunity to form an affiliation with Hawthorn Football Club, it’s a great initiative to promote the Hawks in our local area,” said Pitt.

Shayne Stevenson, Hawthorn’s Tasmanian Operations Manager, was delighted with the announcement, which will see Hawthorn continue to forge a strong relationship with netball in Tasmania.

“Hawthorn has been associated with the Tassie Hawks Netball Shield for the past three years and sees this affiliation with the Northern Hawks Netball Club as the natural extension of our association with netball in Tasmania,” said Stevenson.

“It is a great partnership that has a great opportunity to flourish.”
