Hawks and Cats face off for the beyondblue Cup
The beyondblue Cup raises awareness of depression and anxiety in young people.
This week's Round 5 match marks the sixth year that the Hawks and Cats battle it our for the beyondblue Cup in a bid to help raise awareness of depression and anxiety in young people and to reduce the associated stigma within the AFL community.
Since 2005 Hawthorn and beyondblue's relationship has grown significantly, with youth arm Youthbeyondblue now the Club’s official Major Community Partner.
The Club is involved throughout the year tackling depression and anxiety by supporting the great work that beyondblue and Youthbeyondblue do to spread their message and reduce the stigma.
Most notably, the Hawks team up with Youthbeyondblue on each of the Club’s visits to the Northern Territory by inviting Indigenous Hip Hop Projects (IHHP) to communities with them on each trip.
IHHP use dance to promote self expression and encourage young people to Look for the signs of depression, Listen to your friends experiences, Talk about what’s going on and to Seek Help together.
There Club also supports other beyondblue campaigns throughout the year such as Movember, Anxiety and Depression Awareness month, Youth week and other activities where Hawthorn and Hawks players are involved.
Be sure to grab a free wristband from beyondblue volunteers at this week's match at the MCG, and don't be afraid to Look, Listen, Talk and Seek Help.
