It was a morning fit for Presidents everywhere at Hawks headquarters last Saturday as Jeff Kennett hosted a Welcome to Waverley brunch for a group of local sporting club officials, most of who were themselves a president. The 50 guests packed the Waverley Park boardroom which proudly displays Hawthorn’s nine premiership cups and boasts an excellent view of the oval. The local club officials had a great view of a Box Hill Hawks session while mingling with their counterparts from sporting clubs located in Melbourne’s eastern wedge.Mr Kennett gave the group a quick heads-up on the golf results before reiterating to the group that reconnecting with the eastern wedge was a priority in 2007 and how important the move to Waverley Park was in order to achieve this.Senior player Joel Smith dropped in for a chat, as did General Manager Football Operations Mark Evans.Following the formalities Community Relations Manager Felicia Welstead and long serving volunteer, Mike Warren provided a guided tour of the Club’s state-of-the-art facilities.
