Rookie Draft: What the Club says
List manager Graham Wright casts an eye over the club's picks at the 2012 rookie draft
In summary
After going young in November's NAB AFL Draft, Hawthorn targeted some ready-made types in the rookie draft. Broc McCauley and Adam Pattison are both strong bodied, mature-age players who'll provide good support to the club's established big men - McCauley in the ruck, Pattison wherever needed. At 23, Amos Frank could quickly make an impact too. A small, beautifully skilled indigenous player from remote South Australia, Frank has the potential to become a fan favourite. Andrew Boseley is more of a long-term prospect, but the Hawks were delighted to snare him. The Geelong Falcons key defender had been touted as a potential mid-range pick in the November draft, so Graham Wright pounced when he was still available so late on Tuesday.
What the recruiter said
"It worked out how we were hoping it would. We were really keen to get at least one ruckman in, with obviously trading Brent Renouf and Paul Johnson deciding that he didn't want to pursue an AFL career anymore. So we decided that was going to be a priority." - Hawthorn list manager Graham Wright

Height: 192cm

Pick 69: Adam Pattison, Box Hill Hawks
DOB: 5/3/1986
Height: 197cm
Weight: 99kg
Wright says: "We were really impressed with the way he went about it at Box Hill last year. He hurt an ankle late in the year, and that made it pretty hard for him, but he's come back really well from that. We feel he gives us coverage in a couple of spots. He can play ruck, but also centre-half-forward/centre-half-back."
