Hawthorn’s Isaac Smith will join up to 10,000 Melburnians on Sunday 25 March for an amazing race-style scavenger hunt through the city.

The Melbourne City Romp aims to raise funds for the Burnet Institute, it takes participants to over 60 iconic and quirky Melbourne venues.

Hawthorn members are entitled to a 20% discount on entry.

Why is Smith romping?

The young midfielder is an event ambassador who is passionate about raising money for the Burnet Institute, which he believes plays a vital role in the fight against the ‘big three’.

“It’s a great cause that I really want to be involved in and help raise much-needed funds to fight infectious diseases,” Smith said.

“The Melbourne City Romp is a great activity to get family and friends involved in, you can register as a group or an individual and get people to sponsor you to raise money for the Burnet Institute.”

What is the Romp?

Part treasure hunt, part Amazing Race, part puzzle, the Melbourne City Romp is a charity fundraising event like no other. Participants will be given a map, clue sheet and mobile phone, as teams attempt to solve challenges at checkpoints across Melbourne.

At the end of the four hour Romp, participants (and anyone who would like to come along) are invited back to Birrarung Marr for entertainment - including an interview with Smith, street performers and a DJ. There will also be a chance to win a $1,000 fashion wardrobe from Melbourne Central.

Why is the Romp held?

Each year a staggering 11 million people, mostly young children, lose their lives to infectious diseases, many of which are preventable. The Romp is held annually to raise funds for the Burnet Institute’s fight against the ‘big three’ - HIV, malaria and tuberculosis.
