Traditional reco for Whitecross
Brendan Whitecross will undergo a traditional knee reconstruction after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament in the Qualifying Final win over Collingwood...
After consultation with Club doctors and a specialist, the Club has decided to go down the traditional route, instead of the LARS surgery option.
Hawthorn’s General Manager - Football Operations Mark Evans said Whitecross’s team-orientated approach after receiving the diagnosis has been remarkable.
“While it’s extremely disappointing for both Brendan and our Club that he has sustained a serious knee injury at this time of year, his positive and selfless response has been impressive,” he said.
“He has always been considered a young leader within our playing group, and his team-first attitude and resolve to remain involved in any capacity that might benefit his teammates is a credit to his character and the strong culture of our Club.”
“Brendan has enjoyed his most consistent season so it is disappointing for him personally to be sidelined at this time, but he will undertake his rehabilitation with the same commitment and diligence he devotes to his training,” Evans said.
