HAWTHORN forward Jarryd Roughead has failed to make the trip to Tasmania and has been ruled out for Sunday's game against Port Adelaide at Aurora Stadium.

Roughead was withdrawn from the squad on Saturday with Hawks coach Alastair Clarkson saying Roughead had sustained a slight tweak of his ankle.

A replacement has yet to be named for Roughead, with emergencies Stephen Gilham, Shane Savage and Taylor Duryea all in the mix to fill the void.

The Hawks have maintained a patient stance with fellow star Lance Franklin and have given him another week to try to get his troublesome hamstring right.

Max Bailey and Xavier Ellis - who will play his first game this year after overcoming a knee injury - come in to the Hawthorn side.
