Hawthorn Football Club has selected Bradley Hill, Jordan Kelly and Alex Woodward at pick numbers 33, 38 and 53 respectively in the 2011 AFL National Draft.

The Club also used pick no 77 to promote rookie Luke Breust, who debuted in season 2011 earning a NAB Rising Star nomination.

Selected at number 33 Hill performed well at this year’s AFL NAB Draft Combine, breaking the beep test record with a score of 16.1 and finishing first in the 3km time trial.

The younger brother of Fremantle’s Stephen, the speedy midfielder was recruited from West Perth/Quinns District Junior Football Club.

Recruiting and List Manager Graham Wright said the 18 year old impressed with his fantastic work rate.

“Bradley’s an outstanding athlete and talented right footer. With his speed and endurance we think he’s got a lot of upside and in time can have a big impact on our team.”

The Hawks’ second pick Jordan Kelly represented Vic Country at the AFL NAB U18 Championships and averaged three tackles a game.

Standing at 192cm, the defender has a good long kick and the ability to win his own ball.

Wright says the Edithvale-Aspendale recruit will be versatile for the Hawks’ down back.

“Jordan can play either key defender or a rebounding defender role and, like Bradley, has a good combination of speed and endurance. He shows great courage and is a really good user of the footy on both sides of his body.”

Rounding out the Club’s 2011 National Draft selections, Alex Woodward is an inside midfielder who is an effective user of the ball by foot.

Representing Vic Metro at the NAB AFL U18 Championships, the 18 year old has been lauded for his work ethic and team-first attitude.

According to Wright, Woodward was great value at selection 53.

“Alex is more of an inside midfielder but he’s quick. He averaged about 27 possessions in the TAC Cup  and has outstanding hard-ball get clearances. We rated him really highly so when he got through to pick 53 we were rapt to secure him.”
