Hawthorn Football Club has placed Max Bailey on the long-term injury list as he continues to recover from wrist surgery.

Once placed on the long-term injury list, a player must remain on the list for a minimum eight-week period.

General Manager - Football Operations Mark Evans said the Club now had a clearer idea of Bailey’s timeline on return and as a result has transferred him onto the list.

“After the injury was first detected in the pre-season competition, we were keen to see how Max went with it and we thought that a few months’ rehabilitation was standard for this type of injury," he said.

“Placing him on the long-term injury list now means he should return a little after that three month mark.”

The Club has not nominated to upgrade a rookie player at this stage.

Rookie Broc McCauley was upgraded to the primary list in March, following Alex Woodward’s placement onto the long-term injury list after the first-year player ruptured his ACL in Hawthorn’s second NAB Cup match in Launceston.
