President Jeff Kennett, Senior Coach Alastair Clarkson and a number of Hawthorn players, coaches and staff departed Melbourne Airport today for Papua New Guinea to trek the Kokoda Track.

This will be the third time the Club has undertaken the journey to Papua New Guinea, which is an integral part of Hawthorn Football Club’s cultural experience.

The Club undertakes the Kokoda experience for life lessons it teaches over the eight days it takes to trek the 96 kilometre trail.

The trip is an opportunity for those in the travel party, which includes former President Ian Dicker, to recognise the wartime efforts of so many brave Australians and to learn about the history behind the PNG campaign.
