Day 6

Thursday 10 December
Brown River to Ofi Creek, 8km

Today the group faced differing and challenging terrain fording Brown River and crossing swampy flatlands. The swamps proved particularly difficult with the high humidity.

The group made their way up the beginning of the false crests of the Maguli Range to the village of Nauro. It’s not hard for the players to imagine how the exhausted and wounded soldiers in the 39th Battalion must have felt as they trekked this same route back to Port Moresby.

Six days into the journey, the group is physically and mentally tired but they have a strong resolve to get them through the remaining days.
