BRENT Guerra's missing 2008 premiership medal has been found, and the Hawthorn defender is now hoping for a second miracle: a fast recovery of his torn hamstring.

Guerra endured a terrible time last week, with his house broken into and the medal stolen on Monday, before suffering the hamstring injury against West Coast on Friday night.

With less than four weeks until the Grand Final, the 30-year-old knows the odds are against him taking his place, if the Hawks get there.

But he has vowed to do everything in his power to give himself a chance at winning a second flag.

"Most hamstrings these days are three to four weeks, and sometimes even longer, as 'Bud' (Lance Franklin) showed, missing five or six," Guerra told Melbourne's Triple M radio on Tuesday morning.

"But I'm going to be doing everything possible to get back out there.

"I'll have some sleepless nights icing the hamstring up, and I'm seeing a few different people at the moment.

"I've just got to be positive about it and hope for a miracle.

"If the boys can have a few wins and get to Grand Final day, I'll be putting my finger up if I'm 100 per cent."

The medal was found by a street sweeper on Tuesday morning, dumped at a park in Herbert Street, St Kilda.

He contacted Triple M to hand it in, much to Guerra's relief.

"It hasn't been a great week for myself, getting the house robbed and the medal stolen last Monday, and also doing the hamstring," Guerra said.

"But to get the news this morning, I'm bloody happy, I can give you the tip.

"You grow up as a kid wanting to play in premierships, and to play in an AFL one is something special.

"So to not be able to show your kids or your grandchildren that medal in years to come would have been disappointing.

"To get it back is great; I'm absolutely stoked."
