THE Hawks' 115-point demolition of North Melbourne on Saturday gave them six wins from 10 games.
Given results in the round's other matches - specifically the upset losses by Essendon and West Coast - Alastair Clarkson's men are back within two wins of all top four teams.
After the doom and gloom following the previous week's loss to Richmond, Hawthorn's prospects suddenly look bright again.
"[Top four] is what we're aiming for, but we've just got to worry about ourselves at this stage of the year," Hale said on Monday.
Forward Lance Franklin stole the show against the Kangaroos, his 13-goal haul the largest by an individual since Scott Cummings' 14 in 2000.
Hale forecast that Franklin would spend more time close to goal in light of his performance.
"He probably played a little bit deeper than he has before, stayed in the forward 50 a bit more, and the midfield use was pretty good on the weekend, so it gave him a few more chances than he's been getting in the last few weeks," the former Kangaroo said.
"If we can keep him inside 50 and he's kicking them like he did on the weekend, he's pretty damaging.
"So he might be there again this week, I'd say."
Hale said the Hawks' continued success would depend on them bringing the level of aggression they showed against North Melbourne to every match.
After being well beaten in contested possession against Richmond the previous week, Hawthorn won the stat by 21 over the Kangaroos and, despite having 91 more disposals, still managed to lay 10 more tackles than Brad Scott's team.
"We were very poor against Richmond, so it (aggression at the contest) was something we set ourselves for all week," Hale said.
"I think it's just an attitude thing.
"We went into the Richmond game and our minds probably weren't on the job, and as you saw [with the upset results] this weekend, if you're not at the top of your game you can get rolled by anyone.
"So we've got to bring that attitude every week.
"If we perform like we did on the weekend, we think we're capable of beating any side."
Hawthorn faces Port Adelaide at AAMI Stadium on Sunday, followed by a home clash against the Brisbane Lions ahead of its round 13 bye.
Hale said captain Luke Hodge wasn't expected back until after the break.
