JORDAN Lewis will miss the next two matches after accepting a two-match sanction for rough conduct.
The Hawks midfielder was cited by the Match Review Panel on Monday for a bump on North Melbourne's Todd Goldstein in the final quarter of Saturday's 115-point win.
Lewis will miss matches against Port Adelaide and Brisbane over the next two weeks, while the Club has a bye in Round 13. That means that Lewis won't return to the field until the Club's Round 14 match against Carlton at the MCG.
Lewis has captained the Club in the absence of skipper Luke Hodge, who is still battling a knee injury that has kept him out of the Hawthorn line-up for four matches.
It is likely that Jarryd Roughead will lead the Hawks out onto the ground for this weekend's match against Port Adelaide at AAMI Stadium.
Lewis was charged with a level two engaging in rough conduct offence. It was assessed as reckless conduct (two points), low impact (one point) and high contact (two points) - a total of five activation points and a classification as a level two offence, and consequently a two-match ban.
Due to his previous poor record, the charge was increased by 20 per cent to 270 points and a two-match sanction.
He also had 50 carry over points accrued in the last 12 months, increasing the total points to 370 and a three-match ban.
By choosing to take the early plea, the penalty is reduced by 25 per cent - to 240 points and a two-match ban.
