Hawthorn Football Club is pleased to announce Luke Beveridge will join the Club for the 2012 season as an assistant coach.

Beveridge served as midfield and systems coach for the VAFA senior and U/23 representative sides in 2011, following two years as a development coach at Collingwood FC from 2008-2010.

Hawks Senior Coach Alastair Clarkson was delighted to announce Beveridge’s appointment to his coaching team.

“Luke’s been on our radar since last year and we’re pleased he’s chosen to take up this opportunity with the Hawks despite having received other offers,” Clarkson said.

“Luke is a quality person and a quality coach, and he will make an excellent addition to our coaching panel.”

The former St Bede’s Mentone coach has an impressive coaching record having led the Tigers to three successive premierships, with the team promoted from C-Grade in 2006, to B-Grade in 2007 and A-grade in 2008.

Beveridge played 118 AFL games for Melbourne, Footscray and St Kilda, and comes from a strong footballing bloodline that includes his grandfather Jack, who played 148 games for Collingwood, and his father John, who has been involved in recruiting at St Kilda for over 25 years.

He will commence his new coaching role with the Hawks in November.
