This year’s Family Day was bigger and better than ever at the home of the Hawks - Waverley Park.

Approximately 6,500 Hawks fans gathered to see their favourite Hawks players and participate in the fun and activities throughout the day.

Activities on the day included player signing sessions, skills and drills with Hawks players, on-field activities with Tasmanian based community group Strive For Life, roaming performers and stilt walkers, memberships and merchandise, plus side show rides and games for the kids.

Our sponsors also joined in the festivities on the day, with fun to be had  in all marquees including Flight Centre and Tourism Tasmania information, HSBC Green Screen, HBA Wii Centre, Mirvac Display Homes and the 13CABS vintage car display.

There was also plenty of great live entertainment to see on-stage from Bob the Builder™ rocking it out with hits like “Can we fix it, Yes we can!”, crazy dance moves and a children’s worksop with freestyle dance group Mass Mayhem, flying of the Hawk from Birds of Prey show Full Flight, fantastic music from band 21-20 and the official guernsey presentation to the 2010 playing group.

President Jeff Kennett took to the stage, providing his insights on the 2010 season ahead and pledging all supporters to join up as a members as we strive towards  55,000 members.

Coach Alastair Clarkson and Vice Captain Luke Hodge were also in attendance and spoke to Hawks fans following the official guernsey presentation at 2.30pm.

At this year’s official Family Day guernsey presentation, 48 randomly-selected Hawthorn FC members had the hounour of presenting the 2010 playing group with their guernseys.

The lucky members attended all seven home games at the MCG in 2009 and were thrilled to be part of this special occasion. In return, the players exchanged their training jumper to the lucky chosen member.
