HAWTHORN will be without Chance Bateman for at least the next two weeks after the midfielder injured his hamstring in Saturday night's win over Adelaide.

But midfielder Tim Clarke says the Hawks are a chance to regain a trio of talent ahead of this Saturday's clash with North Melbourne at the MCG.

Midfielder Ben McGlynn will return from a four-match suspension, while experienced duo Shane Crawford and Brent Guerra are chances to join him as inclusions after overcoming knee and hamstring complaints.

"Chance has done his hamstring and will probably miss a couple of weeks, but he'll have a scan and that will confirm how bad it is," Clarke said.

"Guerra and McGlynn will be available, and hopefully 'Crawf' will be available for this week, but they're going to have to train and show the coaches they're ready to go."

Crawford, 33, Guerra, 26, and McGlynn, 22, have all been missing since the Hawks' round eight clash with Port Adelaide in Tasmania.

In other injury news, ruckman Simon Taylor and defender Trent Croad will face fitness tests later in the week to see if they have overcome a lacerated knee and bruised hip after being spared the trip to Adelaide.

Clarke, 26, said the return of hard-nut defender Luke Hodge, who rejoined the side in round 11 after missing three games with a hamstring injury, has boosted the side's morale given his "presence" on the field.

He also said it wasn't surprising to see the 24-year-old rack up 11 final term possessions, as well as kick the winning goal, just two weeks after returning to the game on Saturday night.

"Luke is one of the hardest working players at our club, and his last quarter was exceptional," he said.

"I think most great players in this competition play important roles when the side needs it, and he really stepped up for us.

"The training he does on the track will hold him in good stead for the rest of the year."

Although the Hawks came away with a spirited four-point win over the Crows, the match made headlines for other reasons with spearhead Lance Franklin finding himself in the umpire's book for a high bump on Michael Doughty.
