Over 47 days Hawks Senior Coach Alastair Clarkson will share his thoughts on each player on the Hawthorn list - from guernsey number 48 to 2.

What Clarko says

36. Alex Woodward

Thanks to all the fanatical Hawks supporters who continue to track our players with us here on hawthornfc.com.au.

Today we feature 2011 national draftee Alex Woodward.

Alex, a young leader, was captain at Sandringham Dragons.  We really like the way he goes about his football, he's a real hard at it in and under type of player, a prolific winner of the ball. He brings a great attitude to his football and has a great desire to play at the highest level possible.

We were really happy that he was still available at the third round in the draft. We anticipate that he's going to develop well over the course of 2012 season. He's come into the program and tackled our preseason training really well, getting himself involved in all activities and impressing at our training camp on the Sunshine Coast.

We expect he'll play most of his footy in the midfield and probably early on it will be at Box Hill. You never know how much he'll develop and perhaps he'll get to feature for Hawthorn in the NAB Cup series - we'd love this opportunity to showcase his skills to Hawks supporters.

From 36 to 35, Sam Grimley is tomorrow's feature player. Thanks for your continued interest in my article series.

Cheers for now.
