Tuesday 4 September - 3 days to go

It was time to hit the training track on Tuesday as the players ramp up their preparation for the Qualifying Final against the Magpies on Friday night at the MCG.

Under the sunny Melbourne sky, players took part in competitive drills to hone their skills and prepare for what is certain to be a tough contest against the Magpies.

Coach Alastair Clarkson cast his watchful eye over the playing group, as Assistant Coaches Luke Beveridge, Adam Simpson, Leon Cameron, Brendon Bolton, Damian Monkhorst and Adem Yze all found themselves involved in drills.


Training is in full swing with players competing in a small "handball" style game.


The aim of the game was to get the footy into the goals. Cyril Rioli tries to get one past Grant Birchall.


Lance Franklin, Brendan Whitecross and Rioli all featured in the "handball" game.

Post-training, players hit the gym to ensure they’re in tip top shape for Friday night’s battle, with weight training on the agenda for most.

Meanwhile, Assistant Coach Beveridge ventured to the Hawks’ multimedia studio to chat to the media ahead of the big game. Beveridge, the Club’s backline coach said he had full confidence in developing defender Ryan Schoenmakers’ ability to nullify Collingwood’s Travis Cloke.
