SHAUN Burgoyne will be a Hawthorn player in 2010, as part of four-way trade.

The deal will also see Hawks forward Mark Williams sign a three-year deal with Essendon, while Geelong will be the beneficiary of an elevated draft position.

Williams will join Essendon in a complicated trade which saw the Bombers trade pick No.16 - the selection it received for Andrew Lovett ? to Port Adelaide, pick No. 42 goes to Geelong and Bomber Jay Nash moves to Port Adelaide, while Essendon sign Hawthorn?'s Mark Williams, and Port Adelaide'?s Pick No. 24 goes to Essendon and Geelong?'s pick No.33 to Essendon.

Hawthorn general manager player personnel and strategy, Chris Pelchen was understandably delighted in getting the deal done.

?"Shaun is a quality player of outstanding character and we welcome him to our Club,"? said Pelchen

?"He offers us a another highly talented option in our midfield and we look forward to seeing him in the brown and gold next year.?"

Hawks forward Mark Williams had received an offer from Essendon during the trade period, and Pelchen said he was pleased that both Williams and the Club could benefit from his move.

?"Williams had a contract with Hawthorn for the 2010 season but received an offer for three-years from Essendon and requested to be traded,?" said Pelchen.

"?We were able to use that request to satisfy the trade of Shaun to Hawthorn, so it is mutually beneficial that Mark has found a new home and that the Hawks have been able to add such a quality player to our squad.?

?"As we approach the end of the 2009 AFL Trade Period, Hawthorn Football Club is pleased to have secured their primary trade options in both Shaun Burgoyne and Josh Gibson, while also acquiring several selections inside the third round of the 2009 AFL National Draft,?" concluded Pelchen.
