With skipper Luke Hodge set to miss another match, Dream Teamers may need to start thinking of a replacement for the gun midfielder. The unexpected calf injury sent Dream Team coaches into a spin - needing to make a decision to hold onto him, or trade him before the two-per-week restrictions are enforced. 10,900 Dream Team coaches elected to hold onto him, but with another stint on the sidelines likely, a decision needs to be made. Lets look at the Hawks midfielders with the potential to replace him.

The options

Brad Sewell ($430,400) - The Hawks hard man enjoyed an impressive first outing in season 2012, with an 97 point effort. With tackling his forte, Sewell is sure to offer your Dream Team average scores of 90 and above each week, if his previous season averages are anything to go by. In 2011, Sewell averaged 88.6 Dream Team points in 19 matches. His career-best, however, was managed in 2009 where he averages 101.5 points per game. Since 2007, Sewell has never averaged less than 80 points per game. He is a consistent performer.

Shaun Burgoyne ($354,700) - The former Port Adelaide star is certainly damaging on-field for the Hawks, but that doesn’t always reflect in his Dream Team scores. What he does have going for him, however, is his footskills, ability to hit the scoreboard and the fact that the Hawks’ players are always looking to get the ball into his reliable hands. When you factor these together, it means that Burgoyne is sure to get his fair share of possessions each week. In his best Dream Team season, Burgoyne averaged 91.2 point, and in 2010 managed 89.1 points per game. At $354,700 and a dual position player (also available to play in your Dream Team’s defence), he will make you a cool $102,600 to spend elsewhere.

Who impressed in Round 1

Brendan Whitecross ($377,800) - The 22-year-old stepped up for the Hawks in their Round 1 match against the Magpies with 21 disposals, six tackles and two goals. That effort translated into 95 DreamTeam points and puts him in contention as a smokey for your forward line.

Jack Gunston ($303,400)
- Despite starting the game as the substitute, the new Hawks number 19 made an impressive debut for the brown and gold when he replaced Jarrad Boumann late in the third quarter. Gunston had an immediate impact with 7 disposals and kicked a goal in just over a quarter of game time. With this in mind, Gunston could well have an immediate impact for your Dream Team as well as the Hawks.
