The Hadassah Hospital and Hebrew University in Jerusalem are both iconic institutions with considerable international reputations and, as it turns out, links to our very own footy club.

Hawthorn Board Director Andrew Kaye, a neurosurgeon, spends time working at both institutions each year.

The Professor of Surgery and Head of the Department of Surgery at the University of Melbourne visits Israel as part of a clinical and research collaboration through The Royal Melbourne Hospital and The University of Melbourne.

During Andrew's most recent visit, another Hawthorn face was seen walking around the hospital. Hawks Legend Peter Hudson was invited by the Hawthorn Director to visit the new building, to see the famous Chagall stained glass windows and the Department of Neurosurgery.

Peter identified the Head of the Department, Doctor Yigal Shoshan as a centre half-back type of footballer, and spent some time teaching him some footy skills.

Hadassah Hospital treats patients from all over the Middle East as well as North America, Europe and Asia and is regarded as one of the world's premier hospitals.
