FORMER Melbourne star Adem Yze has joined Hawthorn as an assistant to Alastair Clarkson.

The 34-year-old will join the Hawks as a part-time assistant and game-day runner, reports The Age.

Yze, who played 271 games for the Demons and was named as an All Australian in 2002, will assist Hawthorn's forward line.

The Keith 'Bluey' Truscott Medal winner will also be involved in the development academy of feeder team Box Hill, who Yze played with after retiring from senior football in 2008 before a stint with the Shepparton Swans in 2010.
