Hawk girls runners-up in the Multicultural Cup
Wooranna Park Primary School represented Hawthorn in the Multicultural Cup.
A fortnight earlier, Hawthorn conducted its own regional Multicultural Schools Cup featuring four primary schools involved in its multicultural program. The winners would then go on and compete at the state final against four other AFL club’s involved in their own multicultural program.
This year 36 primary schools competed in play-offs across Melbourne. Wooranna Park Primary School represented Hawthorn in both the girls' and boys' competitions.
The nine-a-side, modified rules matches allowed students to showcase their exceptional skills and passion for the game.
Displaying many exciting passages of play throughout the day, Hawthorn's representative in the girls' competition, Wooranna Park Primary School, were admirably defeated by 17 points in the grand final by Sunshine Heights.
The Hawks boys' side narrowly missed the finals, but should be very proud of their effort and teamwork on the day.
