Family Day returned to the spiritual home of the Hawks at Glenferrie Oval.
Family Day returned to the spiritual home of the Hawks at Glenferrie Oval on a glorious sunny day on Sunday 6 March.
Over 6000 members and supporters came along to lap up the free activities on the day, including Robert ‘Dipper’ DiPierdomenico hosting on stage, chatting with players and guests throughout the afternoon.
Special guest SpongeBob SquarePants was a hit amongst the kids, with many getting up and dancing along to his high-energy performances, while the Indigenous Hip Hop Projects were a massive crowd pleaser, getting everyone pumped up and excited.
Camp Australia kept everyone busy around the ground with many activities such as face painting and an animal farm entertaining the young ones.
Both the Hawk Happy Snaps and signing marquees were kept busy all day with free instant photos and autographs being sought after by many fans.
Showbags proved a big hit with the bags selling out in no time. The Confreres spinning wheel had signed guernseys going off at a steal for $2 per ticket to the delight of many fans.
Sponsors got involved on the day, with Bupa providing great fun in their Wii marquee where kids had the chance to take on the likes of Captain Luke Hodge at Wii tennis. HSBC Bank Australia brought back the popular Green Screen where guests have their head printed in a photo on a player’s body. Mirvac added some colour to the sky with their balloons and 13Cabs tantalised everyone’s taste buds with their chocolate fondue fountain.
The afternoon was wrapped up with the major announcement of the #1 guernsey being retired and given to the fans by Max Bailey, who will now wear the #39 guersney for season 2011.
The Club was also pleased to announce the launch of the 2011 50-year anniversary playing guernsey which is now available for purchase at HawksNest Online.
