Over 47 days Hawks Senior Coach Alastair Clarkson will share his thoughts on each player on the Hawthorn list - from guernsey number 48 to 2.

What Clarko says

11. Clinton Young

Thanks for checking back to hawthornfc.com.au as we head into the pointy end of our 2012 playing list.

Our series continues today with Clinton Young who will wear the number 11 guernsey in 2012.

Clinton has come off a two season period where he’s had some serious injury concerns, but to-date he’s participating in the pre-season with very few issues and is looking fit and strong for season 2012.

Clinton was drafted to our Club at the end of 2004. Coming off the rookie list, we’re hoping that he will play his 100th game for the Club quite early in the upcoming season.

He’s a guy from the Wimmera region which has produced so many good footballers over the years.

One of the great features of Clinton's game is his ability to carry the ball and break lines.

With a forward-line that features guys like Jarryd Roughead, David Hale, Lance Franklin and newcomer Jack Gunston, we’re hoping that Clinton’s long kicking will penetrate inside 50 and give our tall forwards a great opportunity to compete one-on-one with their direct opponents.

As a hard-running left foot wingman, he’s played some really good footy for the Hawks, and if we can get him back to his best in 2012, it will go a long way in helping us win a premiership in the not too distant future.

Later today we’ll look at Chance Bateman who wears the number 10 guersney.

‘Changa’ has played the highest amount of games for an indigenous player at the Hawks and is highly respected at the Club.
