On Saturday 25 July, over 300 guests enjoyed a night of fine dining and entertainment at the Melbourne Town Hall for the 2009 Le brun et l’or Banquet Auction.

With VIP Mercedes arrivals on the red carpet, and the French music ensemble Belle Musette welcoming guests, the night kicked off in style.

Guests were taken on a French journey, with entertainment by opera duo Diva, followed by Jason Coleman’s Ministry of Dance performance with Le Rouge spectacular and Red Alert Band later rocking the night away.

The night was hosted by Robert ‘Dipper’ DiPierdomenico, and included an address by Hawthorn FC President, Jeff Kennett.

Key Hawthorn personnel were in attendance including the Coach and Captains, with Luke Hodge providing an insight into his 2008 accomplishment of winning the Norm Smith Medal.

Tables tested their knowledge and battled it during three quiz rounds consisting of general knowledge, French knowledge and Hawks knowledge in the interactive Table Challenge.

With 30 exclusive main auction items and 95 silent auction items on offer, important funds were raised to go towards the development of the Club to reinvest in our Football department as we strive for future success and improvement.

Items proving popular included Carl Peterson’s canvas creation and a golfing experience like no other - the once in a lifetime spot on the Hawthorn FC Pro-Am team.

Guests enjoyed a three course meal inclusive of a selection of premium Tamar Ridge wines.

Congratulations to Lizzie Polke, John Silvester, Patrick Tuohey and Wayne Furphy who were the lucky winners of the Mercedes-Benz Melbourne raffle winning the following prizes respectively:

1. Mercedes-Benz luxury driving experience
2. ViewSonic’s 32” LCD TV
3. Myer gift voucher
4. 2008 Hawthorn FC team signed guernsey
