Round 19 sees the Hawks and the Cats go head to head to battle it out for the seventh beyondblue Cup at the MCG.

The annual event is a boost for mental illness awareness, as it focuses on the work done by beyondblue to reduce the stigma around depression and anxiety and to encourage people to seek help.

The night is designed to raise awareness of depression and anxiety, and to reduce the associated stigma within the AFL community, including footy fans and their families.

Make sure you grab your wristband as you arrive at the game from the volunteers, who will be hard to miss in their blue afro wigs and blue glow-stick necklaces.

Also look out for the giant beyondblue jumper on the MCG prior to the game and a special  beyondblue video message from Hawthorn captain Luke Hodge and Geelong captain Joel Selwood.

At this year’s game, beyondblue is focusing on an exciting new Facebook promotion, where people will be encouraged to ‘Like’ beyondblue.

Over the next 12 months, beyondblue is aiming for one Million ‘Likes’, representing the number of Australians who, at any given time, have depression. It also aims to ensure that beyondblue supporters can play their part in increasing awareness and ending discrimination.

Like and WIN!

In a special beyondblue Cup promotion, footy fans who ‘Like’ beyondblue on Facebook have the chance to WIN a signed and framed Hawthorn or Geelong football jumper. Enter before 20 August to go into the draw.
