Franklin scored more Dream Team points than any other player in Dream Team history, with a record breaking 204 points from his 13 goals, 23 disposals, 11 marks and six tackles. If he was your captain, you could have been excused for thinking Christmas had come early, as he would have netted you 408 points.
Before the record-breaking score though, Franklin had not been in the best Dream Team form, despite featuring in 63 per cent of teams. He is by far the most damaging of the key forwards in the league in Dream Team, but we had not seen the best of Buddy so far this season.
Before Round 10, Franklin netted coaches scores of 100 plus just four times - with the biggest return being 130 points in Round 1 against Collingwood. Three times this season though, Franklin has uncharacteristically managed scores of 71, 72 and 76 - something coaches just have not expected from their star forward.
Consequently, Franklin’s price dropped $63,700 between Rounds 1 and 9 when his average was sitting at 96 points. His effort on the weekend though saw his price rise $34,700 to $474,000, and his average has shot up to 106. Those figures are misleading though, given his three scores in the 70s.
If you are one of the very few coaches yet to bring Franklin into your team, however, now is your last chance to grab him at below cost. His score of 204 will see his price rise significantly in the coming weeks, and the window to grab him will close quickly.
Round 11 spotlight
Sam Mitchell ($437,500) - Highlighted as a must buy last week, Mitchell produced for his coaches against North Melbourne with a score of 119. Mitchell gathered 35 possessions and was back to his best in the midfield with eight clearances. His price dropped again though, another $7,300, which is only good news for those who don’t have the gun midfielder.David Hale ($354,500) - The Hawthorn big man has taken over the number one ruck mantle in the absence of Max Bailey, and has performed well in tandem with Jarryd Roughead. It has meant too, that with more time up the field, his Dream Team scores have improved. Scoring 113 against North takes his average to 76.3 per game, with an average of 83 over his past three matches.
Shaun Burgoyne ($318,600) - Burgoyne again impressed, scoring 80 points for his 28,182 coaches. Coach Alastair Clarkson has given him more of a role in the midfield in recent weeks, which has helped increase his output in the Dream Team landscape. His average is 71.2 and given that he can be chosen as a defender or midfielder, he’s worth a look.
