Over 47 days Hawks Senior Coach Alastair Clarkson will share his thoughts on each player on the Hawthorn list - from guernsey number 48 to 2.

What Clarko says

30. Luke Lowden

Our summer series continues today with the player who will wear guernsey number 30 in the 2012 season - Luke Lowden.

Luke’s been on our list for some time now. As a young ruckman he’s had his fair share of difficulty getting himself onto the park on a regular basis given that he’s had quite a few injuries in that period of time.

While injuries are common for ruckmen, we feel that Luke has turned a corner in terms of being able to withstand the rigours of week-to-week training, and we believe he’s in a better position now at the start of the 2012 season to produce some good football moving forward.

In most cases, these young ruckmen need time to adjust to the hardness of the game and know how to position their bodies.

While Luke’s found it difficult to string together back-to-back games and training sessions over the last two seasons, we feel he’s in a place now where he can challenge himself to play some good footy. It wouldn’t surprise me if Luke played a fair amount of senior footy this year.

In a similar vain to Sam Grimley who we featured a few days ago, Luke’s very talented, and we’re excited about what he might be able to bring to our Club in the future.

We’re of the opinion that he’s ready to make his debut for Hawthorn - at what point in time will depend on opportunity and form.

Luke’s put on some bulk and we feel he can play in the ruck or up forward with much greater continuity and consistency - we look forward to watching his progress throughout the year along with all of those who follow and support Box Hill and Hawthorn Football Clubs.

Tomorrow we feature Tom Murphy who we look forward to discussing, so make sure you return to hawthornfc.com.au and continue to leave your comments and analysis alongside mine.
