The remaining rounds of Hawthorn’s 2020 home and away fixture have been confirmed, with the Hawks preparing to set up a temporary home base in Adelaide for at least the next three weeks.
Despite all Hawthorn’s remaining home games currently scheduled to be played at Adelaide Oval, the club remains hopeful of relocating to its second home of Launceston when it is safe for Tasmania’s borders to open.
“We still hold high hopes of playing games in Tassie before season’s end,” CEO Justin Reeves said.
“We know our Round 14 home game against Essendon will be played at Adelaide Oval on August 27, given that Tasmania’s borders closed until at least August 31. However, beyond this, we’re hopeful of relocating to Tassie to play out our remaining home games.
“We love playing down there in front of our Tasmanian fans. 2020 marks the 20th year of our Tassie partnership, so it would be fantastic to celebrate this milestone with some great games of football.
“In saying this, the safety of the community remains our utmost priority. The government has done a fantastic job with their COVID-19 response, so we’d only play down there if it was deemed safe to do so.”
