His career to this point:
Taken with the 67th selection in the 2017 national draft, Dylan Moore excelled in both football and athletics during his junior sporting days prior to being drafted. Upon arrival at the Hawks, his athletic ability saw him instantly embed himself amongst the club’s best runners. Despite a shoulder injury somewhat interrupting the early stages of his first season with the Hawks, the Eastern Ranges product finished 2018 as the in-form player with Box Hill’s premiership-winning side. In 2019, Moore broke through for his first taste of senior action as he played seven AFL games in a promising first showing at the elite level.
2020 form:
Moore toiled away with the reserves in the various scrimmage matches for the majority of this year before his three senior opportunities came in the final three weeks of the year. The first two of those three games were solid without lighting the world on fire but the third, in the final round of the year, was remarkable. The 21-year-old finished with 25 touches, eight marks, five inside 50s and a goal against Gold Coast, a performance that earned him his first career Brownlow vote.
A look towards 2021:
After a long wait across the off-season as he waited to learn of his fate, Moore was finally offered a spot on the club’s rookie list in 2021. With the confidence that his Round 18 performance undoubtedly delivered, Moore will be hoping to springboard himself into a fruitful campaign in the new year.
