Here's a list of all the players league-wide who have recorded at least 85 possessions and 25 clearances after three rounds of the 2021 season:

Jaeger O'Meara.

That's it.

O'Meara has been in stunning form to kick off the year, highlighted by his 34-possession, 12-clearance performance against Geelong on Easter Monday.

The 27-year-old said the secret to his explosive start was quite simple.

"It helps that I didn't have to have any off-season surgery," O'Meara told Triple M Rush Hour WA on Wednesday.

"I think every year I've been at the Hawks so far I've had to have some sort of surgery so to have a clean run at it this pre-season has helped me.

"So, touch wood, the body is going well and that's giving me the best chance to play and I feel like I'm covering the ground the best I have in my time at Hawthorn."

The youthful backline core set to take us into the future

O'Meara's clean bill of health has resulted in some career-high numbers: 28.3 disposals, 8.3 clearances and three rebound 50s.

But, perhaps the most promising new best mark, is his 16 uncontested possessions, highlighting the contested bull's ability to spread from the contest and win the ball on the outside so far this year.

A member of the club's leadership group, O'Meara accepts the responsibility of helping the Hawks usher in their next wave of talent.

He said the club was in a strong position to rise again with Alastair Clarkson at the helm.

"Clarko's so passionate about the game and wanting us to improve.

"He knows we're not a club that belongs at the bottom of the ladder - he's a really proud man who wants us to climb the ladder as quickly as possible.

"I know a lot of pundits out there are probably tipping us to be at the bottom of the ladder again this year, but we've got a fair bit of belief inside the four walls that we can climb that ladder."
