Box Hill Coach Sam Mitchell says he was pleased his side was able to overcome a slow start to record a fourth consecutive win over Aspley on Saturday.

"Aspley is a strong and physical side and started in exactly that manner, jumping us by kicking 4.1 to our no score in the first quarter," Mitchell said.

"It took us until just before half-time to get ourselves back in front.

"Pleasingly the game was played on our terms from there and, if not for our poor goalkicking (3.11 in the third quarter), then we could have put them away earlier.

"Our even contribution across the field was more pleasing this week."

A form reversal: The stats that stand out post-bye

Here's Sam's review of each of the 13 AFL-listed Hawks:

Ollie Hanrahan (30 disposals, 2 marks, 3 tackles, 1 goal)

"Ollie Hanrahan played through the middle and front half of the ground again. He found a fair bit of the footy, but the most pleasing part of his game was his desire to defend and tackle. His polish on the ball was evident but his defensive pressure was most pleasing."

Conor Nash (28 disposals, 3 marks, 6 tackles, 1 goal)

"Conor Nash played in the middle of the ground which was a new role for him and he handled it with aplomb. His running ability meant that he went from strength to strength throughout the game, potentially adding another string to his bow."

Emerson Jeka (20 disposals, 11 marks, 4 goals)

"Jeks was prolific in the front half of the ground. The only missing piece of his game was his inside 50 kicking and his connection with other forwards there. But he is in a strong vein of form."

Jack Saunders (19 disposals, 5 marks, 1 goal)

"Mighty Mouse continued his development with more time up on the wing. His running ability makes him a very difficult match-up and he was able to get on the end of the ball more often this week. Aspley were quite strong verbally and were calling him Draco Malfoy which even gave his teammates a giggle. It will now become a strong competition for whether Jack's nickname is Mighty Mouse or Draco."

Keegan Brooksby (18 disposals, 9 marks, 4 tackles, 12 hit-outs, 2 goals)

"He bounced back strongly after last week and had a significant impact on the contest both in the ruck and up forward. He led from the front."

Damon Greaves (17 disposals, 4 marks, 1 tackle)

"He continued his strong run of form with another well-balanced game. He has consistently been able to execute his role to a high level."

Jackson Callow (15 disposals, 6 marks, 2 tackles, 1 goal)

"He took another step forward this week as a forward playing a bit higher up the ground. His workrate is a real strength and he was able to take some strong marks. There is still some room to grow for him with his decision-making and handballing skill."

Connor Downie (14 disposals, 2 marks, 1 tackle)

"He started the game strongly but he faded out through the middle. While not as strong as previous weeks, his best plays are outstanding."

Finn Maginness (14 disposals, 2 marks, 4 tackles)

"He had a very difficult match-up on one of the in-form players of the VFL Ryan Bastinac. Finn kept Bastinac to 12 possessions, after averaging about 38 before that, while still being able to have an impact himself. He is really growing in his role."

Michael Hartley (13 disposals, 4 marks, 1 tackle)

"It was Harts' best game for some time with his ability to defend an opponent and still drive our attack a stand-out. Defensively he was our rock."

Ned Reeves (12 disposals, 3 marks, 5 tackles, 35 hit-outs, 1 goal)

"Ned was strong in the ruck and when going forward. He is in good form, other than his goal kicking which is usually a strength of his. He missed a few opportunities."

Josh Morris (11 disposals, 3 marks, 2 tackles, 1 goal)

"Josh was better this week, with his work-rate being a bit more consistent. His desire to chase and defend was improved. He has taken a small step in the right direction."

Tyler Brockman (10 disposals, 4 marks, 3 tackles)

"In what was his first game back in a while, it took him a while to get back into it. His second half was strong, with some real polish on the ball when he got his opportunities."

And some of the best Box Hill-listed guys?

"Vincent Adduci continued his strong run of form. His evasive skills and disposal, particularly between the arcs, is causing headaches for opposition sides."

"Mason de Wit has focussed on the defensive side of his game over the last couple of weeks and has improved significantly. His offensive work will always be a threat with his kicking a step above. But his defensive role has made him an important player for the team."
