Come along to Kinetic Stadium as we take on traditional rivals Essendon for Round 1. Not only is there football but there will be local food trucks, kids activities, DJ, performers, giveaways, sampling from Nature Valley and much more. 

Off the field, the Wales family are going through a tough time. Cameron Wales, who is the brother of our AFLW player Lucy Wales and of Essendon’s Stephanie, was involved in a tragic accident overseas that has left him a quadriplegic. Cam has since been transferred from Florence to Melbourne and is currently residing in the Austin spinal unit, but the future remains unknown for himself and his family with a long recovery forecasted. The family have set up a GoFundMe page which can be accessed here. The Wales sisters, together with their parents John and Caroline and brothers Brendan and Cam, have the full support of both the Hawthorn and Essendon football clubs during this difficult time. 

If you are keen to see the next generation of AFLW players on show, then head Frankston earlier in the day at10am to watch the AFL Futures match.
