Season summary:
With an array of excitement surrounding him off the back of an impressive debut year, Will Day was unfortunately struck by an ankle injury in Round 2 of the 2021 season.
Third in the 2020 NAB AFL Rising Star award, the 20-year-old required ankle surgery early in this year and battled to get back, making just five appearances in his second AFL season.
After hurting his ankle again in the final stages of the side's Round 15 win over Greater Western Sydney, he was forced on the sidelines for the remainder of the season.
But despite only a handful of outings this year, Day continued to show a great ability to read the play and understand the speed of the game.
The young gun is an integral part of the Hawks defensive unit and would love to get a full season under his belt in 2022.
Best AFL game:
Although it was tainted by another injury blow, Day's best performance came in Round 15 against the Giants where he notched a career-high 29 disposals and 634 metres gained.
How the fans saw him:
SamMitchell has plenty to work with, a very young squad led by Will Day, lots to look forward to.
