With the Peter Crimmins Medal quickly approaching this Thursday night, we've given our take on who we think is in the running to win the club's 2021 awards.

Here’s our pick on the front-runners for the Hawks' Most Promising Player, Most Consistent Player, Best First Year Player and Best Clubman.

Who's in contention for this year's Peter Crimmins Medal?

Most Promising Player

Despite only playing five matches due to injury, Will Day continued to show his ability to dominate the ground following on from his break-out 2020 season.

Averaging 20 disposals in the games he played, the 20-year-old has also demonstrated an understanding of the game well beyond his years.

Following on from some impressive glimpses in 2020, Changkuoth Jiath also went to another level this year.

The youngster showcased his thrilling dashing play from defence, providing some great rebounds and intercept possessions while averaging 20 disposals a game.

Despite being unable to finish off the year off due to a season-ending injury in Round 17, Jiath will continue to play a pivotal role in Hawthorn's future.

And then there's Dylan Moore, who is perhaps one of the best stories of the season.

The 22-year-old transformed from a fringe player into the Hawks' equal-second-highest goalkicker for the year.

The surprise packet produced a break-out 2021 season, finishing with 27 majors across his 20 games.

Most Consistent Player

A major ball-winner across the season, Tom Mitchell was arguably back to his career-best form, two years on from the badly broken leg which wiped out his 2019.

Mitchell did not drop below 20 disposals in a game this year - averaging a whopping 34 - chipping in with eight goals in the process.

Another to look out for is defender Sam Frost who arguably had the best season of his long career.

Consistent, reliable and hard to beat one-on-one as a defender, Frost played all games and averaged 15 disposals, which is impressive as a key defender.

Jack Scrimshaw also had a notable year, with his ability to take contested marks, particularly one-on-one, a team standout.

Averaging 20 disposals a game with an efficiency of 84 per cent, the youngster continued to be a prolific ball-winner and executor of his kicks.

Best First Year Player

Recruit Lachlan Bramble quickly became a fan favourite after debuting in Round 14 against Essendon.

He went on to play 10 games for the year across all lines whether it be forward, in the midfield or in the back-half, averaging 18 disposals a game.

Meanwhile Jacob Koschitzke impressed with his remarkable switch from defence to the forwardline this year, finishing with 27 goals to his name.

At only 21-years-old, Koschitzke played 20 games in his debut year, taking a big leap forward in his young career.

Best Clubman

It’s hard to go past Ben McEvoy as stand-out candidate following his first year as the brown and gold's captain.

Playing every game this season, McEvoy was a key player in a handful of the Hawks best performances this year.

An impressive leader both on and off the field during a challenging year, McEvoy demonstrated his ability to get the best out of not just himself, but also his teammates.

Another contender is Luke Breust who has established himself as a key leader within his sides new-look forward unit.

The veteran forward led Hawthorn's goal kicking count with 33 to his name, while showing his class and leadership within a relatively young side.

Meanwhile, James Sicily is also a chance for the highly regarded award despite not playing a game this year due to a knee injury.

The star defender took on a mentorship and coaching role while on the sidelines in 2021, demonstrating his impact as a leader helping several young players find their feet.
