Hawks star Tom Mitchell has added to his impressive 2021 season, finishing equal-seventh in a thrilling Brownlow Medal count on Sunday night.
Mitchell polled 25 votes across 10 of his 22 games and was adjudged best afield in six of those matches.
After the Round 12 bye, Mitchell racked up an incredible 20 votes in the second half of the season.
The 28-year-old’s total figure of 25 is the most of any Hawk since his own Brownlow Medal-winning year in 2018 where he finished with 28 votes.
His teammate Jaeger O‘Meara was the Hawks second highest vote-getter with 11, while Chad Wingard ended with eight votes.
It was an historic count in several ways, with a record four players polling 30 or more votes as Port Adelaide’s Ollie Wines stormed home to claim his first Brownlow.
