Sam Butler is officially a Hawk, with the 18-year-old picked up by Hawthorn with Pick 23 in the 2021 NAB AFL Draft.
Butler is a clean and clever utility who can play through the midfield or up forward.
He has proven damaging around goals with some elite acceleration, whilst also possessing the defensive traits to match his offensive output.
Unlike other small forwards who hit the scoreboard regularly, Butler is not afraid to work hard and apply himself to the contest.
He is the brother of premiership Tiger and Saints forward Dan Butler.
The crafty talent is impressive both ways, with the ability to play inside or outside, high or deep forward, and his traits lend themselves to any role he is given.
Butler joins the Hawks following the club’s selection of Josh Ward with Pick 7 in the opening night of the national draft on Wednesday.
