The VFLW Hawks brought the pressure on Saturday to secure a powerful eight-point win against Collingwood.
With both teams coming off big wins in Round 3, the hunger for another was in the air.
Lauren Szigeti powered forward to open the scoring of the day, followed shortly by a goal from Bridget Deed which got all the girls excited.
Jessie Williams closed the quarter with a goal on the siren leaving Collingwood scoreless as the Hawks forward line looked powerful.
After coming back into the side, Jaide Anthony suffered an ankle injury in the opening quarter and remained out for the rest of the game.
The second quarter saw a switch of attitude in the Collingwood team, as both sides remained scoreless for most of the quarter before a goal from the Pies put them on the scoreboard.
Despite not scoring in the second quarter, Hawthorn looked strong, with the defensive combination of Kristen Hay and Aimee Whelan consistently working the ball away from the defensive 50.
At half time, Coach Cherie O'Neill encouraged the girls to get the game back on their own terms, think a little more creatively and start playing that messy footy while maintaining control of the game play.
Williams opened the scoring for the second half before the wind picked up, and Hawthorn spent a bit of time playing kick-to-kick in front of the goals. The wind was a bit too powerful for some long distance, awkward angled shots this quarter.
Collingwood was in fighting form, and had another major score this quarter, leaving two goals between the teams into the final quarter.
Captain Tamara Luke was a powerful force, finishing with 39 hit-outs as an individual compared to Collingwood's 27, as a team.
The last quarter gave the Hawks a scare, with the Pies kicking two goals back-to-back, leaving one goal separating the two teams in the final minutes of the game.
After a great team effort bringing the ball from the backline, a mark landed in the arms of Emma Humphries, who sealed the match with a great set shot goal.
The pressure filled game marked an exciting back-to-back win for the Hawks. However after leading from start to finish, the girls should have never been in doubt.
