Following on from the success of John Kennedy Snr Legends Guernsey released in 2019, Hawthorn has unveiled the second iteration of the collectable Legends Guernsey series, this time paying homage to Peter ‘Huddo’ Hudson.

Widely celebrated amongst the Hawthorn family, Hudson’s Legends Guernsey carries on the original gold and brown ‘V’ design, while adding unique aspects to honour his time in the brown and gold.

Hudson is the second of eight club legends set to be honoured in the coming years as part of a collectable Legends series.

The former premiership star, All Australian and six-time leading goalkicker played 129 games for the Hawks and kicked 727 goals during the 60s and 70s.

The guernsey design includes a fabled Legends emblem with Hudson’s autograph positioned on the front below the V, with raised detailing adding a modern feature to this historic piece.

Hudson’s version also emphasises the V and side panels with the addition of a unique pinstripe detail as depicted in his official Legends portrait.

As an ode to Hudson’s playing days, the white vintage number panel has been popular on several Hawthorn guernseys over time, most notably the early 70s.

Woven into the yoke, this nostalgic image of Hudson epitomises his freakish ability in front of goal.

The original design was inspired by a former Mayblooms’ guernsey worn by the club in 1933.

The Legends Guernsey series is about honouring Hawthorn’s rich history while paying tribute to each of the most influential figures our club has known.

Peter ‘Huddo’ Hudson

Arguably the greatest ever full-forward with an incredible average of 5.59 goals per game.

He kicked over 100 goals in a season on four consecutive occasions and in 1971 equalled Bob Pratt’s record of 150 goals in a season.

Hudson’s strengths were his deadly accuracy and incredible ability to read the play.

His biggest tally in the VFL was 16 goals, but he is perhaps remembered more for his heroic efforts against Collingwood in 1973. Despite being rushed back from injury, and arriving at the ground in a helicopter, he kicked an impressive eight goals for the match.
