The VFLW Hawks maintained composure to seal another win on Sunday, taking home a 51-point victory over Carlton at Box Hill City Oval.

It was a slow start to the game, with an already wet oval matched with the on and off sprinkle of rain keeping the Hawks on their toes.

Zoe Barbakos slotted the Hawks first goal, before the girls fought hard for another, but they were only able to record a few minor scores as they adjusted to the slippery conditions.

Rain poured quite consistently during the second term, but it proved to be no match for the Hawks as Lauren Camilleri and Sarah Cameron both picked up goals.

The slippery ball led to both teams racking up tackles as ground ball possessions became imperative for the win.

Abbey Holmes slotted a beautiful set shot goal to close out the half.

There was a lot of talk on statistics in the half time chat, as Assistant Coach Hayley Gregory highlighted her side's impressive ability to record seven forward 50 tackles in the wet.

Coach Cherie O’Neill spoke on efficiency, as she encouraged the girls to get the fundamentals right, especially in the difficult weather.

“Overall really good start, I’m just expecting more, because I know you’ve got more. We’ve got more,” O'Neill said at the main break.

The third quarter saw lots of forward 50 action and the girls looked dominant, however the rain made it hard to convert to the scoreboard before Dom Carbone slotted one through.

Abbey Holmes secured her second in the final term, followed by a second goal also for Sarah Cameron, a new goal kicking duo looks to be forming in the absence of leading goal scorer Kristy Stratton.

The siren closed out the game on a much sunnier note than it began, with the Hawks locking in another win to maintain the winning streak that now climbs to five in-a-row.
